FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is There a Deposit?

No deposit is required. Your card is added to our system only to link it to the reservation. It will not be charged unless damage, missing fuel, or other costs occur during the rental.

What documents do I need at pick-up?

  • Valid driver’s license (held for at least 2 years)
  • A card in your name (credit or debit)
  • ID or passport is required at pick-up

Can I cross borders with the car?

Yes! You can cross into Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia with prior approval. A Green Card (cross-border insurance) is required and must be requested at pick-up.

What happens if the car is damaged or something goes wrong?

We document the condition of the car with a checklist and photos. If damage occurs during your rental, we charge according to our damage matrix and the insurance you selected.


  • With basic insurance, you're responsible for damages up to the excess amount (€500–€700).
  • With medium insurance, the excess amount is reduced to €200.
  • With premium insurance, you have full coverage and won’t be charged for any damages..

What if my flight is delayed?

 No problem! If we have your flight number or you notify us in advance, we’ll track your arrival and wait for you at no extra charge.

Can I return the car to a different location?

 Yes, one-way rentals are possible.

  • Between our offices in Macedonia and Albania: €170
  • Between our offices in Macedonia: €50
Just select your preferred return location when booking.

Can I rent a specific car model?

We always try to provide the model you selected. However, rentals are based on vehicle class, and in rare cases, we may offer a similar or upgraded model at no extra charge. 

I booked through a broker – is the insurance the same?

Broker insurance is third-party insurance. If there's damage, Alfa Rent will charge the damage amount, and you must claim a refund from the broker. We provide all the necessary documents to support your claim.

Do you allow smoking in the car?

 No. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all Alfa Rent vehicles. A cleaning fee will apply if the car is returned with smoke odor or ash residue.

What if I lose the key or documents?

 Lost keys, traffic license, or green cards will result in replacement charges. Please notify us right away so we can assist.

Can I change the drop-off location after I’ve already picked up the car?

 Yes, if the new location is part of our network. Please contact us as early as possible so we can confirm availability and arrange the change.
